Suzanne Thompson lives with her Book Seller husband and two cats, Sherman and The Bad Kitty, in Boone, NC. Boone is located in the north-western corner of North Carolina right off the Blue Ridge Parkway. Their home was built in the 1870’s by a Civil War officer who authored a book about his experiences, The Watauga Boys.
After much renovation, the old tobacco barn loft became the perfect location for a book store. Visitors are amazed as the number of books and the display cabinets. A retired Master Chief, the Book Seller specializes in military titles but he sells many other subjects from genealogy to polar explorers. From poetry to guides on collecting antique prophylactic tins. But, military books and collectables that they have brought back from Europe are highlights of any visit to the shop.
Most days you will find Suzanne sitting at the lap top in the book barn doing some sort of research. Whether it is genealogy or searching for her uncle and his B-17 that went down in the Austrian mountains during World War II. She is on the board of the Friends of the Library and organizes the big annual book sale fundraiser. She LOVES to travel and she doesn’t even mind exploring old battlefields and WWI trenches.
But, she doesn’t want to give too much away because then there won’t be anything to blog about!
